Ever since I was a young girl, I have been always interested in television. Especially comedy. I love seeing people with a smile on their face because I just made them laugh or if something has made them laugh. If you didn't know this already. I have always been the one who knows what each television shows are about, behind the scenes things as well as which actors play in the show. I have also always been interested in writing. I find that it's an expressive way to convey your feelings. Not many people would expect me to do what I was planning to do, considering people's initial thoughts of me are quiet and shy. One of my earliest memories are watching Disney channel every morning before school, I would wonder, "Hey, I wonder what it's like to be on a television screen" and I would always keep that thought in my head. I was committed to try to fulfil that dream of knowing what it's like to be on a television screen. Over the last summer as I was relaxing in my room, being lazy and scrolling around on the Internet suddenly, an advert appeared on my screen. Not just any advert, but an advert for a program. This program was called 'Premiere Program' a program that helps kids get work in the television industry and the program was particularly known for working with Disney Channel. The program is a week long, with workshops as well as giving us an insight to what life is like in the industry. Did I mention that they also have talent scouts there watching you? If you were lucky, they'd come up to you offering you jobs. The program takes place at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. As I saw the ad popping up quite a few times, I thought that I should maybe do it. Just give it my best shot and see what happens, what ever happens, it's an experience. A couple of nights later- late at night, I decided to show my mum the advert and the website. I made sure to do my research first before I make my mum sign me up for anything. She looked around the website and she signed me up there and then. Next day during lunch, I got a phone call from the company to get me as what's known as an evaluation which is an audition. A couple weeks past and then school began. The audition was the first weekend that school began. The first 2 days of school felt weird as I was anxiously awaiting the audition day. I started to do my research and watch videos on what the auditions and the program looks like. The head and founder of the Program, Michael David Palance, would go over the top with the acting. Taking people's phones, taking their headbands, speaking in their face and so much more purposely to throw people of their lines to see who can make it and who will break it. I began thinking of ways that I can get through the program without breaking out of character. I was committed to try and do the best I can. Within a blink of an eye, it was the audition day. I arrived and looked at how many people were there. In the end, there were about 2000 kids from all over my area. I got my number (1685), my lines (which were from the Disney show, KC Undercover) and form to fill in. I entered the room and was given a talk with the rest of the 2000 aspiring actors from the head of the program, Michael David Palance, and were given the expectations and reality of the auditions and the program as well as the industry. One word that came up was commitment. I ended up having to wait about 2:30 hours to be escorted to be in the Audition room. If I were being honest, I was so nervous ( although I was trying my hardest to stay as cool as a cucumber) that it is all a blur to me and I only feel like I waited for about 30 minutes. It came to the time where I was being sat in the Audition room. There were about 40 aspiring actors in each audition room. I was sat in the front. In front of me were the panel. There was Peyton Meyer ( who has ever since that day become my new celebrity crush and I am absolutely loving him right now!), actor from the Disney Show, Girl Meets World, a spin off show from the iconic Boy Meets World as well has ABC Family's Hayden Byrely from The Fosters. Along with Dru West, talent coordinator of the program and another woman who runs the program. How the audition works is that Michael and you, the auditioner, will read through a short script and see how you react. I was the 3rd person to audition which was a good thing because it didn't give me time to think and to get even more nervous. I decided to be the first person that talks. That way I can take control and outsmart the person I was auditioning with ( which was the head of the program, Michael David Palance) The line was talking about how the air was running out so I decided to think outside the box. I started panting and shaking the head of the program. I could tell he was taking an interest because he then started to fall purposely on me, called my mum his wife as well as fist bumping my mum to see if any of us were that committed that we'd just go with the flow. He then reflected on the performers and made cuts then and there. I then found out that I made the first round! I was very excited. Next stage was to email them on the Monday morning, 9 am to be exact and see if they are still interested in you. The Sunday before that Monday was one of the worst days ever! I constantly felt butterflies in my stomach and I didn't eat all day because I was terrified I might be sick. It came to Monday morning, a school day and I was anxiously watching the clock. Watching the seconds go past ever so slowly but yet, as quick as a snap of a finger. Luckily and gratefully, they were still interested in me. That same Monday, I went back for my callback. Sod's law, I was sick but I was committed to push through and hopefully get invited to the program. As I arrived at the callback, it was completely empty. I was the first one to arrive with my mum. Such a huge shock compared to how the weekend was with numbers of people compared to 50. I was given a new script to practice. I was getting anxious because I was so fortunate enough to even be sitting there let alone fight for a place to get to the program. The clock struck 6 o'clock pm which meant it was audition time. As soon as I was sat down, Mr. Palance told me that I was going first. I was happy that it was the case because it meant that I couldn't think about it first. He then explained the rules and expectations. It came to my audition and Mr. Palance went absolutely mad! Spitting in my face, hugging me and just going absolutely mental! It was nothing that I had ever seen before! I decided to push through however I was taken a back because I will admit, I was slightly scared but I got through the audition and I then sat down to watch the others audition. They other performers were incredible! But still, Mr. Palance went even crazier with them as with one girl, he threw water in her face! I was starting to get a little bit nervous as I felt the competition levels rise. It came to the end of the auditions. At this stage, my stomach was in knots. Twisting and turning and flipping. I didn't know what to do with myself as he was evaluating each performer. He called my name and shook my hand saying congratulations. I didn't think I got through but then he started saying sorry to other performers and that's when I realised, I got into the program! I was extremely excited and I was absolutely shocked. I felt unstoppable and definitely an unforgettable experience. I said thank you to Mr Palance straight away. I then asked how many people will be going through and they answered 30. That meant I was 30/2000 performers that went through! I couldn't believe it! I then sat down with my mum at a table to talk about my different options with attending the program. Mr. Palance then came up to me and my mum to say congratulations. I couldn't possibly express how grateful I was. We ended up talking about my options and there was a comedy option that I was interested in. Mr. Palance then called me a goofball and that is probably up there with the best compliments I have ever received in my life. I then signed papers with my mum at it was Official, I'm heading to Orlando Florida Disney world to attend Premiere Program! I was so so grateful. I was given a booklet with everything I need for the program and that's when everything started to feel a bit surreal. The next day at 10:15 pm at night, I facetimed the talent coordinator, Dru West for a practice run with a script that looked similar to a script I would have to be performing during the program. The FaceTime went really well and I was told I take directions greatly and that I should keep doing what I'm doing. That is everything that has happened so far and I can't wait until I can update you guys again with even more news!
